Several people stopped in today after school to ask last-minute portfolio questions. In case others are wondering the same things, here are the questions and the answers:
DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A COVER LETTER?
No. The only thing you have to have is the 300-word explanation of your major revisions. This goes in the writing section.
DO WE HAVE TO PUT A PORTFOLIO PIECE DESCRIPTION ON ALL DRAFTS AND ALL POEMS?
No. Consider all your poems AND all the drafts of your poems as one thing. You will have one description slip for all of this.
DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A PORTFOLIO PIECE DESCRIPTION ON OUR READING BLOG/ANNOTATIONS GRADE?
Yes. Here is the list of what you have to have a description slip on: book list, blog/annotation grade sheet, poems + drafts, pre + post essay test, seminar discussion grading form, any optional pieces you include.
IS IT OK IF I COMPLETELY REWROTE A POEM?
Yes. However, remember what I said in class about my marks on your drafts (if you forgot, I also explain this in my last post). I don’t expect that you will change EVERYTHING that I marked! You should decide where your biggest weakness was and focus on improving that. Also, if you DO choose to rewrite a poem, still include all of the drafts that you originally handed in to me as well as the drafts with my marks.
