Don’t forget the details!

For AP students working on their argumentative papers for tomorrow, make sure that you are looking at the rubric. Remember, as soon as you don’t do something, I stop reading! So…

  • Watch that MLA format! (You only have one chance at this.)
  • Come up with a good title…or at least a title!
  • Pay close attention to your introduction. I often stop here because either the introduction doesn’t have a hook, doesn’t have a logical progression of ideas (transitions needed!), or doesn’t have a clear thesis. Can’t remember what hooks are? Here’s one reminder: essay hooks2
  • Do your topic sentences have key words from your thesis so that I can follow your argument? If not, I won’t get very far…

Tomorrow, I will ask you to annotate some of these things before you hand your paper in tomorrow!
